Ryan Gootee General Contractors LLC, a general contractor located in Metairie, La., has recently been awarded a $4.2 million contract by the City of New Orleans to renovate and expand the Rosa F. Keller Library and Center.
The existing historic mission style house, built in 1918 on the corner of Napoleon Avenue and South Broad, will be converted into a community center for the residents of the Broadmoor neighborhood.
The work includes raising and shoring the existing structure, refurbishing existing windows, replacement of mechanical and electrical systems and new finishes throughout.
A new 5,800-sq-ft library building will replace the existing building to be demolished as a result of damages sustained during Hurricane Katrina.
The project also includes a reading garden and outdoor education area.
The project, which is LEED registered, is scheduled to be completed in July 2011.
