Alabama
Doster Construction Co. of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced that Robert L. Harris has joined the company’s health care group. Harris supervises healthcare projects ensuring they are delivered within budget and on schedule.
A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building science, Harris brings more than 12 years of health care construction experience to this position. In addition, he is ASHE certified and OSHA 10-hour certified.
Since Doster Construction Co. was founded in 1969, about 50 percent of the company’s construction volume has been in the health care field.
Louisiana
The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors recently announced that after conducting a nationwide search, Michael B. McDuff has been named executive director. As executive director, he will serve as the chief operating officer in connection with day-to-day operations.
McDuff most recently served as executive director of the Baton Rouge Growth Coalition, an organization representing the commercial and residential real estate development industry in Baton Rouge.
McDuff also previously held the position of executive director for the Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. McDuff is a 1985 graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
SJB Group LLC of Baton Rouge recently announced the appointment of its new Construction Services and Real Estate Division Manager, R.A. “Ronnie” Rabalais. Rabalais has spent 35 years working in the field of commercial, residential, offshore fabrication and highway construction, as well as highway right-of-way services including cost reports, court testimony and acquisition, relocation and negotiations.
He has worked with engineering and construction firms on projects including prisons, warehouses, office buildings, hospital improvements, pumping stations and highway and road construction.
He has experience in QA/QC, estimating, commercial and residential construction project management, construction contract negotiations and administration, acquisitions and relocations and property condition assessments for an International Real Estate Investment Company.
PSI recently announced the addition of Wayne Page Sr. as a new business development manager in its Baton Rouge operations office. Page earned his bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Louisiana Tech University and has more than 20 years experience in sales and marketing.

Mississippi
Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. honored a number of its member contractors and suppliers at its recent annual award banquet for outstanding quality, innovation and safety in construction projects completed in 2008.
William Hux, president of Moses Electric Service Inc. of Jackson, Miss., was named “Construction Man of the Year.” Hux was selected by a unanimous vote of the board of directors of the Mississippi Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors. Hux has been active in many industry organizations, including the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation as well as the National Board of Directors of the Associated Builders and Contractors.
He served as chairman of the Mississippi Chapter in 2004.
Tennessee
Gresham, Smith and Partners, an architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm in Nashville, recently announced that Paul E. Breeding has joined the firm as senior vice president in the environmental compliance market.
With more than 20 years of environmental consulting experience for a variety of industries in the U.S. and abroad, Breeding will support and enhance GS&P’s ability to provide guidance to a range of clients on how to best meet corporate environmental and sustainability goals, as well as comply with industry-specific environmental regulations.
Breeding’s primary practice areas include both public and private facility environmental compliance, industrial development, remediation and sustainability.
A registered professional geologist, Breeding earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Tennessee Technological University.
Connico Inc. of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., recently welcomed Derek L. Brown to its staff. Brown joined the Nashville area office as senior cost estimator on Oct. 27, bringing with him 10 years of experience in the construction industry. Throughout the years, he has gained in-depth knowledge of the industry by being integrally involved with project owners, designers, contractors and consultants.
Brown graduated from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn., in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in construction technology. He is currently working on a master’s degree in international construction management at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and also a master’s degree in business administration at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
He is a LEED Accredited Professional and proficient in the use of Success, Excel, Primavera and Timberline Precision Estimating and Project Management to maintain budget, cost and scheduling control, and resource allocation from concept to completion.
