Alabama
Gallet & Associates Inc. recently announced the addition
of Ayoade Adeyefa to its Pensacola office as staff geotechnical
engineer. Adeyefa earned a master's degree from the University
of South Carolina in May and is an engineer in training.
The company also announced the addition of Mary Hemmen to
its Birmingham office in the position of staff geotechnical
engineer. Hemmen earned a bachelor's degree from Auburn University
in May 2004 and is an engineer in training.
Birmingham-based healthcare construction firm Robins &
Morton recently announced the promotion of Melissa Butler
to director of marketing. She will be responsible for planning
and directing company-wide marketing initiatives and coordinating
sales activities.
Butler joined Robins & Morton in 2000 as marketing coordinator
and later served as marketing manager.
Butler received a bachelor's degree in advertising and public
relations from the University of Alabama. She is a member
of the Society for Marketing Professional Services and Public
Relations Society of America.
William Tynes joined Golden & Associates of Birmingham
in late December as project manager. Tynes has more than 10
years of experience in the construction industry, working
on large commercial projects with a construction firm based
in Birmingham, Ala.
Project highlights from his career include Preserve Place
condominiums in Grayton Beach, Fla., The Summit in Birmingham,
and SMART Alabama, a tier I Hyundai supplier in Luverne, Ala.
Tynes received his bachelor's degree in building construction
from Auburn University.
Russell Tyler joined Golden & Associates in December
as superintendent. Tyler has more than 27 years of diverse
experience in the construction industry, with the last six
years as a superintendent. Project highlights from his career
as superintendent include Anniston Army Depot chemical incinerator
renovations, The University of Alabama Coleman Coliseum renovations
and renovations to UAB's Jefferson Tower and Volker Hall.
Arkansas
MAY Construction Co. of Little Rock, Ark., recently announced
the following new hires:
Steve Tucker has joined the MAY Construction team as a project
manager. Tucker has a bachelor's degree in management from
the University of Phoenix and specializes in technologically
complex construction projects. He current works in the Industrial/Distribution
business unit of MAY through the Little Rock, Ark., headquarters.
Tara Wood has joined the company as an assistant project
manager. She has a bachelor's degree in construction management
from Purdue University. She is currently assisting the Northwest
Arkansas business unit.
Lynn Chambers has joined the company as a site manager. Chambers
specializes in retail/commercial projects and is currently
working on the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Cabot, Ark., for the
MAY Retail/Commercial business unit.
Todd Nolan has joined MAY as an assistant site manager. Nolan
is supporting the Mulit-Family business unit and is currently
working on the expansion and renovation of Chenal Country
Club of Little Rock, Ark.
Louisiana
Thomas H. Turner has become the chief operating officer of
Turner Industries Group in Baton Rouge. Turner will retain
his position as vice chair of the Turner board.
In other news, John H. Fenner has joined Turner Industries
Group as general counsel. Fenner shall represent Turner Industries
and related companies regarding their business transactions
and client relationships.
Prior to joining the Turner team, Fenner was a solo practitioner
specializing in business transactions and corporate litigation
in Baton Rouge.
He has a bachelor's degree from Loyola University in New
Orleans and a law degree from Louisiana State University.
Turner Industries is a privately owned industrial construction
and maintenance organization that has a nearly 12,000-member
work force and is consistently ranked in the Top 100 Contractors
in the maintenance, petrochemical and industrial sectors by
Engineering News Record.
The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance Inc. (GBRIA) recently
announced the appointment of Chris Hill as associate director.
Hill joins GBRIA after working for Lockheed Martin in Ft.
Worth, Texas, Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque,
N.M., and Easterly Construction in Denham Springs.
He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from LSU and
is currently pursuing his MBA at LSU.
F. H. Myers Construction Corp. of Harahan, La., recently
announced that Rachelle M. Albright has been promoted to vice
president of project management and Ryan P. Myers is now its
chief estimator and head of its Estimating Department.
Arco Builders Inc. of West Monroe, La., recently hired architect
Thomas Hatten to assist in its Design-Build Department. Hatten
will be working with the company's architect, C. Eugene Brown,
and professional engineer, Fred Hall.
Mississippi
Fountain Construction Company Inc. of Jackson, Miss., recently
announced that Ira Ott has been hired as its new sales and
marketing manager. Ott has 34 years of experience in construction,
sales and marketing.
Tennessee
Ray Bell Construction Co. Inc. of Brentwood, Tenn., recently
announced that Steve Campbell has joined the RBCC team as
its new director of business development. Campbell was formerly
a senior vice president at Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon
Inc., where he was responsible for corporate business development.
Also, Marty Morris has joined the RBCC team and will serve
as senior estimator. Morris will provide conceptual, progress
and detailed estimating services for all of the company's
clients. He will also be responsible for assisting project
managers with preconstruction services such as estimating
and scheduling.
Campbell has bachelor's and master's degrees from the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville.
He is also a graduate of the ACEC/Brookings Senior Executives
Institute. Campbell is a charter member of the American Institute
of Certified Planners and is a member of the American Planning
Association, chairman of the Nashville Civic Design Center
Development Committee and a member of the Board of Directors
at NCDC. He is active in other civic and professional associations.
Morris has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from
the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the Middle
Tennessee Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and is
a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited
Professional.
Donnell Field recently joined Johnson & Galyon Inc. of
Knoxville, Tenn., as director of marketing.
Field is responsible for managing and producing Johnson &
Galyon's marketing materials, including print and visual presentations,
responses to requests for proposals, advertising and brochures,
along with serving as the in-house IT representative and maintaining
the company's Web site.
Prior to coming to Johnson & Galyon, Field was assistant
director for special publications in the Sports Information
Office with the University of Tennessee Men's Athletic Department
in Knoxville. Additional duties included game day operations
for UT football, basketball and baseball, handling local and
national media relations and print and advertising materials.
He also assisted the curator of the UT Football Hall of Fame.
Founded in 1914, Johnson & Galyon is one of Knoxville's
oldest general contractors.
Skanska USA Building Inc. announced the following personnel
appointments:
Philip Southerland has been named corporate executive vice
president with responsibility for the company's life sciences
business, in addition to overall management of Skanska's New
Jersey, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico operations.
All three focus on the construction of life sciences facilities
as well as on other market sectors including healthcare, warehouse/distribution
centers, commercial buildings, educational structures and
retail centers.
Southerland also continues in his role as the leader of the
company's life sciences business, which provides collaborative
construction management services to global pharmaceutical
and biotech clients including comprehensive commissioning/qualification/validation,
pre-construction and purchasing solutions.
Southerland has more than 30 years of global construction
experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical
industries and is a member of the ISPE organization.
Joey Hatch also has been named corporate executive vice president
with responsibility for the company's health care business.
Hatch has more than 32 years in the construction industry
and will continue to oversee Skanska's Nashville, Tenn., operations,
which focuses primarily on healthcare construction.
Hatch is a founding board member of the ACE Mentor Program
of Tennessee, a board member of the Nashville State Community
College Foundation and an advisory board member for the Purdue
University Building Construction Management Program.
Skanska has also named Michael Leondi as area general manager
of the company's New Jersey operations and Jonathan Reif as
area general manager of the Pennsylvania operations.
Leondi has more than 28 years of experience in the construction
industry, 23 of which have been with Skanska. While at Skanska,
he has served as a project executive responsible for large-scale
assignments on behalf of commercial owners, retail center
developers, pharmaceutical companies and Fortune 500 corporations.
Leondi is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Reif has more than 27 years of construction industry experience
and 22 years with Skanska, where he has focused primarily
on managing high-profile pharmaceutical projects. Reif is
a member of the ISPE organization.
Randy Bratton was promoted to vice president, institutional
construction at Montgomery Martin Contractors LLC of Memphis,
Tenn.
Bratton joined the firm in 1998 and served as director of
school and church construction until his promotion in December.
The company has completed more than 50 school and church projects
in their 10-year history with Randy overseeing a majority
of the jobs.
Presently he is working with Hope Presbyterian Church in
Cordova, Tenn., on the new $50 million, 200,000-sq.-ft. sanctuary,
Rivercrest High School in Wilson, Ark., and the three campuses
of St. George' s Independent Schools in the Memphis area.
Joel Thomas has been promoted to chief financial officer
of Montgomery Martin Contractors. He served as controller
since joining the company in 2000. Thomas also heads the Human
Resources Department and is Information Technology coordinator
for the 200-employee company with a 2005 volume of $90 million.
Charlie Jenne has been promoted to general superintendent
of Montgomery Martin Contractors. He is in charge of all field
operations based out of the three offices in Memphis, Nashville
and Rosemary Beach, Fla.
John J. Campbell Company Inc., a Memphis-based commercial
and industrial roofing contractor, held its board of directors
meeting recently and approved the following promotions:
Carl E. Drennon Jr., executive vice president; Greg Campbell,
senior vice president; Linda A. Moore, vice president, finance;
Robert Goodall, vice president, service and maintenance; Tim
Ryan and Sidney McAlexander, project managers.
The company recently opened a divisional office in Birmingham
and Brad Fleaman was named vice president of this division.
J. E. Crain & Son Inc. of Nashville recently announced
the addition of Mark Sherrill as project manager. He brings
18 years of experience in the construction industry specializing
in the retail industry.
J. E. Crain & Son also announced two new superintendents,
Garvin Wesson and Barry Hancock.
