Alabama

The Robins & Morton Group of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced the following promotions: Rick Sidebotham and Steve Wiley to senior project manager; Scott Bullock to senior estimator; David Skipper to project manager; and Tom Rue to superintendent.

Golden & Associates Construction LLC of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced the appointment of Janet R. Tedford as marketing coordinator and H. M. "Bubba" Autry as superintendent.Tedford will be responsible for managing marketing and public relations efforts, as well as assisting with hiring activities. Her experience and background includes serving three years as business manager for The Literacy Council and internships with the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham and General Motors Corporation. Autry has 43 years of construction experience that includes the following local projects: UAB's vaccine and T-cell research lab, Palisades Shopping Center, Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center, Samford University's Beeson School of Divinity, BMC Montclair professional office building, and English Village Lofts.

The National Association of Surety Bond Producers recently announced that Mark W. Edwards II of Birmingham, Ala., was appointed to its board of directors and Thomas J. Gentile of Montgomery, Ala., was appointed as regional vice president for Region 8.NASB announced the appointments during its 63rd annual meeting in San Diego, Calif. Edwards is senior vice president of McGriff, Siebels & Williams Inc. in Birmingham, and Gentile is vice president of Turner Insurance & Bonding Co. in Montgomery.

During the SC&RA Annual Conference held recently at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz., the SC&R Foundation elected Doug Miller, Fontaine Specialized Inc. of Springville, Ala., as vice president. "We're pleased to welcome this strong group of new board members," said SC&R Foundation President Joe Bob Joyce, Joyce Crane of Longview, Texas. "We'll be counting on their input during the foundation's three-year strategic planning session this summer in Washington, D.C. They also should be able to help ensure the success of our Perpetual Investment Campaign, which will fund scholarships and research programs." The SC&R Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation with a mission to advance research and education for the specialized carriers, crane, rigging and millwrighting industries served by SC&RA.


Mississippi

Jennie Simmons with Simmons Erosion Control of Lake, Miss., was recently presented the 2005 Mississippi Young Entrepreneur of the Year award by the U. S. Small Business Administration. The award is presented to small business owners younger than 30 years old. She was nominated by Julia Cain with the U.S. Forest Service.


Tennessee

Memphis-based VP Buildings, a manufacturer of metal building systems, recently named Jim Peckham as its national manager of marketing. Peckham has been with VP Buildings for 21 years. A native of Memphis, Peckham has served in several positions with VP, including advertising manager, product manager for XpresSteel and business development manager. Before joining VP, Peckham worked for a Memphis-based printing and marketing firm for seven years. Peckham graduated from the University of Memphis in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. VP Buildings engineers and manufactures pre-engineered, non-residential, low-rise steel buildings for manufacturing, warehouse, school and commercial applications.

Skanska USA Building Inc. recently announced that James R. Threalkill has been promoted to corporate diversity director. Based in Nashville, Tenn., Threalkill will be part of Skanska's Corporate Human Resources Team. Prior to that role, he served as the first executive director of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee. Working closely with the management partners, Threalkill will manage the development and implementation of the corporate diversity program for Skanska USA Building.
Once the program is in place, his goal is to align the diversity strategy with the bottom line objectives and overall mission of the organization. Threalkill has a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Vanderbilt University and is also nationally recognized as a visual artist.

The National Association of Surety Bond Producers recently announced that Keith W. Brown of Memphis, Tenn., was appointed to its board of directors. NASB announced the appointment during its 63rd annual meeting in San Diego, Calif. Brown is president of Brown & Associates LLC.



Regional

The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) recently announced that Bart A. Kelley joined the organization as the new Midwest regional manager. Kelley comes to CRSI with more than seven years experience in the steel industry. He most recently worked as district sales manager with Nucor Steel Kankakee Inc. He has a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of North Alabama. In his new position with CRSI, Kelley will be responsible for promoting the design and construction of cast-in-place steel reinforced concrete with design and construction professionals, as well as increasing CRSI membership.Kelley is based in Indianapolis, Ind., and is responsible for the market areas in the central states and Great Lakes regions. The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) is a not-for-profit trade organization dedicated to the quality design and construction of cast-in-place reinforced concrete since 1924.

RSC Equipment Rental, a national pro-vider of rental equipment and services for the construction and industrial sectors, recently filled four leadership roles in the human resources and communications functions at its Scottsdale corporate headquarters.
The recent appointments at RSC include:

Joe Turturica
has been appointed as vice president of human resources. Turturica has leadership responsibility for all people-related programs within RSC. Prior to the appointment, he served as vice president of staffing and associate relations at Penske Truck Leasing, a limited partnership between Penske Corporation and General Electric.

Kathy Dreyer
has been appointed as director of compensation and HRIS. Dreyer's duties include development of new programs that align compensation plans with business objectives and new systems that provide important information for human resources management. During her career, she has held compensation-related positions with Tosco Corporation and Vital Processing Services. Dreyer has a bachelor's degree in international economics from Rutgers University.

Brian Ludera has been appointed as director of training and organizational development. In this role, Ludera will develop and implement training, performance management and succession planning initiatives. He has worked with Waste Management, Tribune Co., and most recently with USF Holland, where he was director of training and development.

Clay Allen has been appointed director of communications. In this role, Allen is responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic internal and external communications initiatives. Allen has 17 years of experience in corporate communications, most recently as director of communications for the national non-profit organization, Childhelp USA. Allen has a bachelor's degree in communications from Brigham Young University.
