Alabama
Larry M. Beasley has been named
president and chief operating officer of the Building Group
of BE&K Construction Company and president of BE&K
Healthcare.
Beasley was most recently president of Bovis Lend Lease Inc.,
a part of Bovis Lend Lease Americas, with responsibility for
all operations in the Southeast, Southwest, West Coast and
Washington, D.C., markets.
In this role, Beasley was responsible for 14 offices and
more than 1,000 people, with operating revenues in excess
of $1.3 billion. He has been in the industry for nearly 30
years, having started his career with the McDevitt & Street
Company.
In addition to his healthcare experience, Beasley has a portfolio
of projects that includes commercial, retail, sports and entertainment,
hospitality and aviation construction.
Arkansas
Don Weaver of Conway has been
elected chairman of the American Road & Transportation
Builders Association/Southern American Association of State
Highway and Transportation Officials Joint Committee. The
Associated General Contractors of America made the appointment.
Weaver is part owner of Weaver-Bailey Contractors of El Paso,
Texas.
Rick Dwyer has been named park
manager at the DeGray Lake field office of the Vicksburg District,
U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. In his new position, he will
oversee all operations of the park in Arkadelphia, Ark., which
is a multi-resource use project that offers diverse recreational
opportunities to several million visitors each year.
Dwyer's career with the Vicksburg District began in December
1981 as a park technician. He has also served as a park ranger
at the Ouachita project management office and as supervisory
park ranger at the Lake Ouachita field office.
Kelly H. Thornton of Conway
has been appointed by Hudson Cisne & Co. in Little Rock.
He will be responsible for audit and tax. Another new hire,
Carley A. Long of Little Rock will concentrate on audit and
tax.
Kara White is now project manager
at Ross Sparks Builders of Little Rock. White joined the company
in 1999 and previously was the company's project coordinator.
Jim Huff recently joined Enco
Materials Inc. in North Little Rock as an outside salesman
for the central Arkansas territory. Huff has more than 20
years of experience.
Clayton Pollock is now heading
the new client service division of Metro Builders & Restoration
Specialists Inc. of North Little Rock. He has 25 years of
building experience and will be responsible for tenant improvements,
commercial construction, site redevelopment and comprehensive
project management.
John Parisi has been appointed
to Rental Service Corporation as business development manager
of the company's Texas region, which covers more than 50 RSC
stores in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Parisi will be largely focused on manufacturing, industrial,
government and petrochemical accounts. He joins Rental Service
after spending seven years in business development within
the technology industry.
Rental Service also named Kevin O'Brien
as region vice president of its Midwest region, including
operations in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri,
Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and North Dakota. He will
be based in Kansas City, Mo.
O'Brien started his career in public >> accounting
after earning a bachelor's degree in business administration
and accounting from the University of Kansas. He practiced
as a CPA for seven years.
After joining M.J. Struckel in 1997, O'Brien remained with
the company after it was acquired by RSC in 1998. He then
served as a general manager for RSC from 1998 through 2000.
In 2000, he accepted a position as district manager for RSC
and held the position until 2002. In April 2002, O'Brien was
appointed to the Midwest region controller position, which
he held until February.
Mississippi
David Marchman, a professor
of construction management at the University of Southern Mississippi
(USM), was recently presented with the John Trimmer Excellence
in Teaching Award.
The award was presented during the Associated Builders and
Contractors' National Convention in Honolulu.
"Professor David Marchman's dedication to advancing
construction education is inspiring," said 2004 ABC National
Chair Carole L. Bionda, vice president, Nova Group of Napa,
Calif.
Marchman is a long-time ABC student chapter advisor who for
the past decade has worked closely with ABC's Mississippi
Chapter. He conducts several continuing education seminars
each year and helps to coordinate the student resume bank
on the chapter's Web site.
Marchman holds a master's degree in building construction
from the University of Florida and is the author of several
textbooks on construction scheduling. He recently developed
a 400-hour summer internship program at USM that provides
construction students with real-world experience managing
a construction project.
Paul Esterheld has joined Stuart
C. Irby Co. of Jackson as vice president of operations. He
was previously president at PGE Associates Inc. Esterheld
has 29 years of experience with Eaton Corporation/Cutler-Hammer,
WESCO and Westinghouse Electric Corp.
Danny Rodgers, president of
MMC Materials in Madison, was recently elected to the board
of directors of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association
(NRMCA).
Rodgers joined MMC Materials in 1998 as president and COO.
He was previously vice president of Sherman Industries' Ready
Mix Concrete Division in Birmingham, Ala.
During his 32-year career in the concrete industry, Rodgers
has been active in NRMCA as a board member.
Tennessee
Jerry Fitch has been named
territory manager for BOMAG Americas Inc.'s Southeast Region.
Fitch will be responsible for the sales of BOMAG and HYPAC
products in Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia.
Joining the company in June 2003, Fitch has twice before
worked for BOMAG Americas. He was the Southeast territory
manager from 1991 to 1996 and was a district manager for the
Southwest territory from 1980 to 1986. Most recently, he worked
in field sales for LB Smith Inc. of Nashville, Tenn.
Fitch currently lives in Franklin, Tenn.
