| Bell & Associates recognized by TDOT with Commissioners Top Partnering Award
Bell & Associates Construction LP of Brentwood, Tenn., was recently presented with the 2006 Commissioner’s Top Partnering Award by Commissioner Gerald Nicely and the Tennessee Department of Transportation for their outstanding work on the Demonbreun Street Bridge.
Bell served as the general contractor on the highly visible and much anticipated project that was completed in October 2006 in downtown Nashville.
“It is a pleasure to present the 2006 Commissioner’s Award to Bell & Associates,” says Nicely. “The partnerships they established with TDOT, Metro Public Works, their subcontractors and the community were instrumental in their completing this job ahead of schedule. The result is a structure that pays tribute to an important part of Nashville’s history and serves as an attractive gateway into downtown.”
The Commissioner’s Top Partnering Award was developed in 1999 to promote a more cooperative and productive working relationship between the contractor and TDOT.
Gallet adds Chattanooga operation center
Gallet & Associates Inc. of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced the addition of an operation center in Chattanooga, Tenn. GAI has acquired the engineering, environmental and construction materials testing assets of Tri-State Testing and Drilling LLC. Tri-State Geosciences LLC, a subsidiary of Gallet & Associates Inc. will run under the leadership of Derek Hodnett and John Cannon.
Buildings Magazine names ESa a top award winner
Buildings magazine, a publication of Stamats Business Media, recently announced that Earl Swensson Associates has been recognized for its project St. Vincent’s South Tower, a 218,950-sq-ft patient tower, in Birmingham, Ala., in the publication’s annual project awards competitions. ESa’s award was given during The Buildings Awards presentation on July 22 in New York, NY.
Based in Nashville, ESa is a 46-year-old architectural firm offering healthcare, hospitality, education, corporate office and senior living community design services to clients globally. The firm received a Citation of Excellence in New Construction in Buildings magazine’s 2007 Project Innovations Awards.
More than 65 project innovations from across the nation were submitted and reviewed by the preliminary judging committee that established criteria based on aesthetics, function, performance and sustainability. Thirty-six entries were selected for the prestigious Project Innovations distinction.
Highwoods Properties to build Cool Springs IV in Nashville
Highwoods Properties Inc., one of the the largest owners and operators of suburban office properties in the Southeast, recently announced that it will begin development of Cool Springs IV, a $27.6 million, 153,000-sq-ft multi-tenant Class “A” office building with structured parking in Nashville.
The company currently owns 771,000 sq ft in four buildings it has developed at Cool Springs.
