Turner Construction selected for Signature Tower project

Giarratana Development LLC has selected Turner Construction Co. as the general contractor for Signature Tower, the 65-story skyscraper to rise from the corner of 5th Avenue and Church Street. New York-based Turner will oversee all construction related to the 1,052-ft.-tall tower, which is scheduled to begin in early 2007 and be completed in 2009.

Signature Tower, featuring 400 residences, a boutique hotel and spa and street level retail, will become one of the tallest buildings in the Southeast and the United States.

Turner Construction Co. has expertise in building structures of considerable height with a portfolio consisting of 14 of the world's 100 tallest buildings, including the current world's tallest building; Taipei 101, which stands 1,671 ft. in Taipei, Taiwan. Additionally, Turner is building what will be the next world's tallest building, Burj Dubai, which will stand more than 2,300 ft. tall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

"Turner is the perfect choice to construct Signature Tower, which will become one of the most recognizable buildings in the United States," said Tony Giarratana, president, Giarratana Development LLC. "Following an intensive selection process, we determined Turner Construction Co. is the right general contractor for this complex, mixed-use skyscraper."

The slender, commanding Signature Tower will be distinguished by an elegant crown resting on its summit. Sheathed in silver metal and glass, Signature Tower will sparkle like a diamond and offer the refined living that is the hallmark of residential towers in New York and Chicago.

More than 115 of Signature Tower's units have already been reserved. Residences range from one- and two-bedroom flats; two-story town homes with two- to four-bedrooms; and full-floor penthouses on the upper six floors. Each residence will feature quality finishes and sophisticated interior design elements.
