| CLP Resources expands in Tennessee CLP
Resources Inc., a provider of reliable, skilled tradespeople to building contractors
and facilities managers, has opened a new office in Nashville, bringing to two
its offices in Tennessee and continuing the company's national expansion program. "The
robust construction market makes Nashville an excellent area of opportunity for
CLP," said Adam Franklin, branch manager. CLP's new Nashville branch
is located at 2605 Elm Hill Pike. Joining Franklin in Nashville are Sales Manager
Michael Fox and Trade Recruiter Vickie Henderson. CLP provides skilled tradespeople
to the construction and facilities industries, working in partnership with contractors
to plan for and fill their manpower needs. Lee
Adcock Construction receives national award A structure built by
Lee Adcock Construction of Shelbyville, Tenn., was recently honored with a Hall
of Fame Award by VP Buildings of Memphis, one of the nation's largest manufacturers
of metal building systems. The Hall of Fame Awards are presented annually
to authorized VP Builders for outstanding integration of building systems, products
and design. More than 1,000 authorized builders are eligible to enter projects
in the Hall of Fame competition. Lee Adcock Construction was named to the
2006 Hall of Fame for the Metrican Stamping Facility in Dickson, Tenn. The 62,000-sq.-ft.
structure was competed in November. Patton &
Taylor begins Memphis elderly housing project Patton & Taylor
Enterprises of Germantown, Tenn., recently began construction on University Place
Elderly Housing (Phase 1) in Memphis. The $10.1 million project consists
of one new building containing 118 units of elderly housing. This is phase 1 of
the redevelopment of the old Lamar Terrace housing project in Memphis. Barnhart
received safety award from SC&RA Barnhart Crane & Rigging
of Memphis, Tenn. has received a Zero Accident Award from the Specialized Carriers
& Rigging Association for having no recordable injuries during 2005. In
addition, the SC&RA awarded Barnhart the Fleet Safety Improvement Award by
showing a reduction in its accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared
to the previous year's accident frequency rate. Barnhart Crane & Rigging,
established in 1969, is a national supplier of engineered heavy rigging and transportation
solutions. Ellers, Oakley, Chester & Rike
becomes SSR Ellers Inc. Ellers, Oakley, Chester & Rike Inc. (EOCR),
a full-service consulting engineering firm and a subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid
Inc. (SSR), has changed its name to SSR Ellers, Inc. EOCR has operated
as the Memphis office for Nashville, Tenn.-based SSR since January 1998 and the
new identity more accurately reflects EOCR's relationship with SSR. "This
formally recognizes our integration of services and the very strong and productive
partnership we have developed with SSR since we became its subsidiary in 1998,"
said Ralph Richardson, president of SSR Ellers. AIA
funds grant for Knoxville avenue study The American Institute of
Architects (AIA) recently launched a nationwide community service program titled
"Blueprint for America: A Gift to the Nation" by funding the first 61
grants for collaborative visioning initiatives between AIA architects and their
communities created to produce a shared vision for a more livable future. The
AIA will provide $2 million in the next six months to fund up to 200 grants. Winning
an award through the AIA East Tennessee was "The Magnolia Avenue Corridor
Study: A Revitalization Initiative for East Knoxville." This initiative
involves a planning study and implementation plan for Magnolia Avenue, the main
east-bound corridor connecting downtown Knoxville with the predominately African-American
neighborhoods of east Knoxville. This historic avenue was previously an affluent,
vibrant corridor for commerce and housing. |
