Linkous to open Florida office

Linkous Construction Co. Inc. of Memphis, Tenn., announced that it plans to open an additional office/ branch office in northern Florida.

Like Linkous Construction's Memphis office, the Florida office will specialize in all areas of commercial construction including multi-family, office, retail, healthcare, industrial and institutional.

"We are very proud that our longstanding Memphis business relationships have allowed us the opportunity to expand into Northern Florida and help them build their own presence in such a booming community," said president and CEO R.E. Linkous.

Established in 1984, Linkous Construction Co. Inc. manages commercial construction projects in the greater Memphis area, as well as the southeastern United States. The company is currently licensed in 12 states.

Blaine receives safety award

Blaine Construction Corp. of Knoxville, Tenn., recently received the 2005 Tennessee Governor's Award for Safety Excellence.

Dorman Blaine, president, received the honor in Nashville at the Tennessee Safety Congress in July. Blaine Construction was recognized for working more than 2.5 million man-hours since 2000 without a lost-time accident and is the only general contractor to receive this award in the last 10 years.

The award recognizes employers throughout the state that take pro-active measures to protect their employees in the workplace.
