Building Group forms in Nashville
A group of senior healthcare construction
executives have launched the healthcare headquarters of BE&K Building Group
in Nashville, Tenn., the company announced recently. Led by Burk Waugh,
the group shares a combined industry experience of more than 165 years. Most recently
with Bovis Lend Lease, many of the executives worked together at McDevitt &
Street Co., a former Nashville company, more than two decades ago. Together,
they established a successful healthcare construction team. "For this
group, teaming with BE&K offered a chance to create a winning culture and
a simple and more effective way to do business," Waugh said. "This is
a people business. Our commitment will be to focus on our employees and also continue
to direct our efforts toward growing long-term client relationships in the healthcare
sector." Waugh said his team will be responsible for more than $150
million in work annually. "We'll grow with our clients," he added.
"Our team will be deliberate and smart about growth. We want to remain as
nimble, competitive and efficient as we possibly can. This model will facilitate
that." BE&K Building Group was formed under the guidance of Luther
Cochrane, former chairman & CEO of Bovis Lend Lease and current chairman &

begins seminary project in Memphis Linkous Construction Co. Inc.
of Memphis, Tenn., recently began construction of a 130,000-sq.-ft home for Mid-America
Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis. The $15.1 million project will
be completed in June 2006. Rogers Group
gets ARTBA award for community relations initiative Rogers
Group Inc. of Oak Ridge, Tenn., received first place in the Community Relations
Category for its Oak Ridge Operations during the American Road & Transportation
Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation's Sixth Annual Pride
Awards Luncheon. Rogers Group developed a multi-pronged approach that served
as a model of how to build a strong relationship with Oak Ridge residents, while
simultaneously educating young people about the transportation construction industry.
The initiative included donating educational materials such as coloring
books, aggregate activity books and posters to schools so that students could
learn more about the stone industry. Company employees also spent time at several
schools teaching students about stone and aggregates. |
