Granite, Archer Western land U.S. 90 bridge job

Granite Construction Co. of Watsonville, Calif., in joint venture with Archer Western Contractors of Atlanta, Ga., has been awarded a $266.8 million bridge replacement project on U.S. Hwy. 90 in Bay St. Louis, Miss.

The contract was awarded by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The project requires the removal and replacement of the U.S. 90 bridge, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and includes the design and construction of the bridge and approaches on each end. The scope of the project includes two lanes in each direction about 1.9 mi. long.

The bridge consists of concrete pile foundations, precast concrete girders and reinforced concrete bridge decks in the superstructure. Work began in February and will be completed by November 2007.
