Great Southern Tractor changes name to Lyle Machinery

Great Southern Tractor of Jackson, Miss., Komatsu construction and utility equipment dealer since 1987, changed its name to Lyle Machinery effective January 2006, according to John Lyle, president.

The announcement comes as the company plans to expand its presence in Mississippi. In 2006, the company will relocate to larger facilities in metro Jackson and Columbus, rebuild on the Gulf Coast, and add a facility in Hattiesburg.

"While we're changing our name to reflect that we offer so much more than tractors, as our previous name implied, there will be no changes in our management team, our employees or our outstanding products and services that we offer," Lyle said.

"The people, products and services our GST customers have known through the years will be the same our customers will find at Lyle Machinery."

In addition to Komatsu, the company represents the Dressta and Dynapac lines of construction machinery.

Lyle said his family has a combined 75 years of experience in the Mississippi construction industry and believes the new name offers a more personal identity for friends, customers and business associates they have been blessed with through the years.
