| Jacobs to build federal courthouses
in Jackson
A U. S. General Services Administration contract for an $88
million federal courthouse in Jackson was recently awarded to Jacobs Engineering
Group Inc. of Pasadena, Calif. The site is on 5 acres. Jacobs will provide
construction management for both design and construction of the courthouse, which
will accommodate 12 courtrooms in 425,000 sq. ft. of space. Jacobs has
been part of GSA's Federal Courts Program for the past 16 years and have managed
other significant courthouses. Jacobs, with more than 35,000 employees
and revenues approaching $5 billion, provides technical, professional and construction

& Co. opens branch office in Clinton May & Co. LLP, certified public
accountants and consultants, recently opened a branch office at Parkman Executive
Plaza at 961 Highway 80 East in Clinton. The move will enable the company
to better service clients in Clinton, Bolton, Edwards, Flora, Raymond and Byram
with tax and financial consulting services. May & Co.'s has expanded
three times in the last four years. Other new offices include a branch office
in Tallulah, La., and a "virtual" office in Millport, Ala.
Energy, water projects get funding The U.
S. Senate recently adopted a bill that provides more than $135 million for Mississippi
energy and water projects in 2004: The bill provides: - More
than $44 million for construction in the Yazoo Basin
- $34 million for
operation and maintenance of existing flood control projects and $34 million to
deal with Mississippi River levee deficiencies
- $600,000 for the U. S.
Army Corps of Engineers to study the LeFleur Lakes Flood Control and Economic
Development Project in Hinds and Rankin counties
- $7.4 million for construction,
operation and maintenance at Pascagoula Harbor and $10.9 million for the DeSoto
County Wastewater Treatment Project
- An increase from $25 million to $100
million for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Administered Section 592 program,
which provides grants on a cost-share
