| White Construction captures
NSC awards, gets Ole Miss contract
The National Safety Council recently
presented White Construction Co. of Ridgeland with the "Perfect Record Award."
The company was recognized for logging more than 800,000 employee hours without
an injury or illness.
The company also received an Excellence Achievement
Award in 2002 for its safety performance.
In other news, White was recently
chosen to build a new indoor practice field for the University of Mississippi.
The $17 million, 150,000-sq.-ft. structure will include a 100-yd. football practice
field, office space, training area, theater room, locker rooms, audio-visual editing
suites and a weight room.
White Construction is a commercial building
contractor handling large, complex and fast track projects. The firm has locations
in Ridgeland, Clarksdale, Austin, Texas; Auburn, Ala.; and Raleigh, N. C.
FHWA awards state $31 million The
Federal Highway Administration recently awarded Mississippi with $31.06 million
in discretionary funds for 13 projects.
The grants were provided to the
state in seven categories, including: borders and corridors, $8 million; Transportation
and Community and System Preservation Pilot (TCSP) program, $500,000; interstate
maintenance, approximately $6.95 million; bridge replacement and rehabilitation,
approximately $8.44 million; public lands highways, approximately $6.04 million;
ferry boats and terminals, $496,750; and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS),
$623,957. |
