Acquisition includes New Iberia subsidiaries
After 65 years as a family-owned business, The Bayou Cos. of New Iberia, La., announced that it has agreed to be acquired by Insituform Technologies Inc. of Chesterfield, Mo. The acquisition includes Commercial Coating Services International Ltd. (CCSI), Bayou Welding Works (BWW) and Bayou’s minority ownership in Bayou Coating LLC.
The acquisition of The Bayou Cos. will complement Insituform’s existing pipe protection capabilities, create cross-selling opportunities and significantly enhance the global market opportunities for Insituform’s existing energy and mining business. Insituform will now be the premier, full-spectrum provider of pipeline and services in North America.
Transactions for the acquisition were completed in February.
ABC Bayou Chapter Board of Directors takes oath of office
The New Orleans/Bayou Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. celebrated its volunteer leadership at the 2009 Board of Directors Installation and Chapter Awards Celebration in January at The W Hotel.
Presiding over the swearing in of the Board of Directors was Phil Shuler of Chaffe McCall LLC, chapter general counsel.

Shreveport AGC installs 2009 officers
Kurt Dean, president of Integrity Inc., Shreveport, La., was installed as 2009 president of the Shreveport Chapter-Associated General Contractors at the association’s annual installations and Christmas Party on Dec. 4 in Shreveport.
Also installed as 2009 officers were Dan Fellows of Fellows Construction Co. LLC of Shreveport, vice president, and Kyle Hand of Hand Construction LLC of Shreveport, secretary-treasurer. Dean replaces Mike Boggs of Boggs & Poole Contracting Group Inc., Bossier City, 2008 chapter president.

Ryan Gootee awarded New Orleans D.A.’s office renovation
Ryan Gootee General Contractors LLC was recently awarded a $2,739,000 contract with the City of New Orleans for the renovation of the District Attorney’s Office Building. The work includes the renovation of the four-story building damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Pelican Chapter ABC announces 2009 Executive Committee, Board of Directors
The Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors recently announced the officers of its 2009 Board of Directors. An installation banquet was held in January at The Hilton Capitol Center in Baton Rouge to install the officers.

A banquet was held on Thursday, Jan. 15, at The Baton Rouge Hilton Capitol Center to recognize and congratulate all of the winners. All winners are eligible to compete in the National ABC competition. Winners at the National level will be recognized at an awards banquet in Washington D.C. on June 24.
Block Cos. moves office to Towne Center
Block Companies LLC, a general building and construction management firm based in Baton Rouge, is moving its headquarters to Towne Center at Cedar Lodge. The new office at 2380 Towne Center Blvd., Suite 1210, is nearly twice the size as the company’s former location on Jamestown Avenue.
Block’s new office is located in the Books-A-Million complex at Towne Center, a 38,700-sq-ft project that Block built for Books-A-Million, Zea Rotisserie and Grill, retail outlets and office space for Creekstone Companies’ Towne Center Management. The space is 3,300 sq ft with an option to expand into an additional 2,800 sq ft in the future.
