Baldwin & Shell breaks ground on LEED-certified headquarters

Baldwin & Shell has broken ground on its new freestanding LEED-certified headquarters building in Little Rock, Ark.
 
The tilt-up concrete building, measuring more than 23,000-sq-ft, will be home to 50 employees with room to accommodate future growth. Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe and Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola attended the corporate headquarters ground breaking.

Baldwin & Shell is one of the first general contractors in Arkansas to build a LEED-Green Building as its own corporate headquarters.

The contractor plans to use local materials and environmentally friendly construction methods. Recycling trash on the jobsite and recycling the material from the existing parking lot on the site will all be part of the construction method.

Baldwin & Shell is a 62-year-old general contracting firm with 2007 volume over $147 million. Engineering News Records has listed the company as one of the Top 400 Construction Companies in the nation four times. Baldwin & Shell is also the 54th largest privately owned company in Arkansas.

Scott Cos. named dealer for attachment line

Giberson Enterprises, master distributor for the Eco-Crusher, recently announced that Scott Cos. of Little Rock, Ark., is its dealer for Arkansas.

Scott Cos. has agreed to inventory all Eco-Crusher excavator-mounted jaw crusher bucket models and wear parts, so the dealer can immediately serve customers. Attaching to any brand of excavator, the Eco-Crusher scoops and crushes concrete, brick, block, asphalt, aggregate and other recycle and demolition material onsite.

“Our company already markets to the demolition and recycle market, but this product allows us to offer a solution to the smaller sized contractor,” says Sam Light of Scott Cos. The company serves contractors from its Arkansas branches in Fort Smith, Little Rock, Texarkana and Spring.
