| Granite Construction awarded
pumping station project near De Valls Bluff
Granite Construction Co. has
been awarded a $34.8 million project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to construct
a pumping station for agricultural irrigation near De Valls Bluff, Ark., about
45 miles east of Little Rock. The Grand Prairie Pumping Station is the
first phase of a $300 million project to protect and preserve groundwater resources
in eastern Arkansas. Studies indicate those resources, which currently provide
drinking water and irrigation for agriculture, are in serious decline. This
phase of the project includes construction of a six-unit pumping station to draw
irrigation water from the White River at the rate of 1,640 cu. ft. per second.
The project is scheduled to begin this spring with an estimated completion date
of July 2007. Granite Construction is a member of the S&P 400 Index,
the Domini 400 Social Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction
Co., one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials
producers. Clark Machinery receives Link-Belt parts distributor
