| Hoar Construction gets Jonesboro
mall project
Hoar Construction LLC of Birmingham, Ala., was awarded
a contract to build a $31 million mall in Jonesboro, Ark. The project,
The Mall at Turtle Creek, owned by David Hocker and Associates and Belz Burrow
Development Group, will include 342,000 sq. ft. of retail space. JC Penney, Dillard's
and Target will anchor the one-level mall. The project, which includes sitework,
will require the relocation of an existing creek. CMH Architects will design
the project. Hoar Construction has been recognized as one of the top 200
U. S. contractors for more than 30 years and is ranked 68th in the country in
construction management by Engineering News-Record. Rogers
hospital begins construction Ground was recently broken on a $140
million medical campus in Rogers, Ark., owned by the Mercy Health Care System
of Northwest Arkansas. Once finished in June 2007, the medical campus
will consist of a 350,000-sq.-ft. medical center and 150,000-sq.-ft. medical office
building. The campus will be located on a 75-acre site and will replace St. Mary's
Hospital. Quanex plans Arkansas plant expansion
Quanex Corp. of Houston recently announced plans for the $20 million expansion
of its Ft. Smith, Ark., manufacturing plant. The company makes components
for the automotive and building industries. The project will raise the Ft. Smith
plant's total shipping capacity to 1.3 million tons. Products manufactured
by the plant are sold to automotive plants for further development into gears
and crankshafts. First Baptist Church Springdale
begins $25 million worship center A new $25 million, 2,500-seat
worship center for First Baptist Church of Springdale recently broke ground in
west Rogers. Baldwin & Shell Construction Co. of Rogers is the general
contractor and Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects of San Diego, Calif., is
the project architect. The building will measure 167,000 sq. ft. once completed.
The project will also include office space, a bookstore, a meeting space
and separate preschool, children's and adult learning areas. The church's
existing Springdale campus will also get a $5 million, 26,000-sq.-ft. addition
that will include an adult learning space, children's building and athletic fields. Construction
began in October. |
