New Wynne plant to manufacture auto parts

A 91,000-sq.-ft, $15 million. auto parts manufacturing plant will soon be built at Wynne. The plant will employ 250 upon its opening in March 2005.

Sakae Riken Kogyo Co. Ltd., based in Japan, will build the plant, and operate the plant as Eakas Corp. Eakus has a Peru, Ill., plant that employs approximately 300.

Construction should be begin this month at the site, located on Hwy. 1 south of Wynne. Once completed, it will begin production with a workforce of 75.

Eakas Arkansas will produced a variety of auto components, including decorative, functional, interior and exterior trim, and modular assemblies.

The plant will also produce 320,000 door handles a month and 60,000 mirrors, plus other interior and exterior parts.


Razorback Concrete to open new plant in North Little Rock

A new North Little Rock plant was opened late last year by Razorback Concrete Co. of West Memphis, Ark.

An 8,000-sq.-ft. office building and maintenance shop were built in preparation for the opening.

The new plant is located at 2500 Eanes Road near Interstate 440 and Highway 70 and employs about 30 people.

About 200 cu. yds. of ready mix per hour can be produced at the plant. About 35 trucks will use the plant, which is managed by Tommy Austin Sr.

Razorback now operates plants in 14 Arkansas cities and employs about 300 people.
