B.L. Harbert International completes seventh renovation project for Brookwood Medical Center

B. L. Harbert International LLC of Birmingham, Ala., recently completed its seventh recent renovation project at Brookwood Medical Center. The project consisted of a 3,200-sq-ft renovation of existing space just inside the hospital’s main entrance. This renovation resulted in 2,000 sq ft of updated work space for the hospital’s reception, admitting and cashier staff as well as a new 1,200-sq-ft Starbucks Coffee.

BLHI is also in the process of putting the final touches on an interior renovation to Columbiana Clinic in Columbiana, Ala., also for Brookwood.

The BLHI team consists of Reed Robinson, project manager, and Sam Gibbs, superintendent. Architects for the renovation project are Evan Terry Associates PC.

Brice Building reaches milestone on Moody, Ala., job

Brice Building Co. of Birmingham, Ala., has reached a significant milestone on Red Diamond Coffee and Tea’s new corporate office and manufacturing facility project.

The final tilt-up concrete panel has been set on the coffee and tea warehouse building, which houses the roasting, packaging equipment and logistics facility.

Brice is also constructing Red Diamond’s corporate headquarters building at the same site. Both buildings are on schedule for a fall opening.

Construction on a third component of the project, the food services facility, is set to begin prior to the completion of the new manufacturing facility and headquarters.

Brice Building’s construction team includes Senior Project Manager Jimmy Harrison, Project Manager Bobby Deheye and Project Superintendent Ed Brown. Design services are being provided by Williams-Blackstock Architects and CRS Engineers.

Birmingham-based Brice Building Co. is a regional contractor and construction manager established in 1931. Brice specializes in industrial, healthcare, commercial and institutional construction.

B.L. Harbert International completes additions to Covenant Presbyterian Church

B.L. Harbert International LLC of Birmingham, Ala., recently completed a 40,000-sq-ft addition as well as interior renovations at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Homewood. The $8 million project expands the church’s nursery, children’s classrooms and children’s worship spaces. In addition to these expansions, BLHI is completing the renovation of the church’s kitchen facility.

The BLHI superintendent for the project was Ricky Harbison.

As stated in a recent church bulletin, “Ricky is well-known and recognized as one of the ’best in the business’ - evidenced by his being named superintendent of the year in 1997 for the state of Alabama.”

Other members of the BLHI team include Project Manager Parker Evans and Assistant Project Manager Adam Stacy.

Ned Ruykhaver and Alison Dagnan of The Garrison Barrett Group provided design services.

CMH Architects completes designs of first all-digital theater in Alabama

CMH Architects Inc. of Birmingham, Ala., has recently completed design and construction documents for what is expected to be the first all-digital theater in Alabama at Eastern Shore Centre in Spanish Fort, Ala.

According to Michael O’Kelley, principal and project manager for CMH, the Premiere Cinemas building will feature approximately 2,666 stadium seats in 14 auditoriums.

The 45,000-sq-ft cinema building is an addition to the existing lifestyle center, also designed by CMH, that opened in 2004.

Construction is expected to begin this month on the project being developed by Eastern Shore Centre MT, LLC of Malbis, Ala., and Premiere Cinemas of Big Spring, Texas. Blalock Building Company, of Trussville, Ala., is the general contractor.

CMH Architects Inc. is a 27-year-old design firm that focuses on retail, corporate, mixed-use and institutional architectural projects throughout the country.
