B.L. Harbert International announces completion of Brookwood renovations

B.L. Harbert International LLC recently completed renovations at Brookwood’s Women’s Medical Center, replacing the second & third floor nurse stations and support areas as part of Brookwood Medical Center’s ongoing multi-million dollar facility upgrade.

BLHI’s three-month project occurred while the Women’s Center remained in full operation.

The renovations were phased to minimize disruption to normal day-to-day operations and took place during a time when the Women’s Center was delivering a record number of newborns.

Despite the Women’s Center experiencing exceptional patient volume and BLHI’s construction, the hospital received the highest possible patient satisfaction reviews.

The project team includes Marty Martin, project manager, and Dwight Sammons, superintendent. Design consultants for the project include Evan Terry Associates P.C.

Southeast Cement Association hosts open house

The Southeast Cement Association, based in Montgomery, Ala., recently hosted a Soil Cement Open House at the Andalusia-Opp Airport jobsite in Covington County, Alabama.

Robert Taylor, Alabama director of the association, said 75 people attended the event, comprised of ALDOT, county and city engineers.

CEMEX Cement cooked catfish for the group following the tour of the project.

Cement-treated base is a mixture of aggregate material and/or granular soils combined with measured amounts of Portland cement and water that hardens after compaction and curing to form a base.
