Fontaine Trailer Co. forms aftermarket parts unit

Fontaine PartSource, a new aftermarket parts unit of Fontaine Trailer Co., recently began operations. The business currently operating out of Fontaine's Haleyville, Ala., office has moved into a new 15,000-sq.-ft. facility in Jasper, Ala.

The unit will focus on serving Fontaine's Key Dealer and Key Fleet customers with an initial strategy to supply 100 percent original equipment parts, said Glenn M. Chambers, Fontaine's president and CEO.

Ed Wentz has joined Fontaine Trailer Company as president of Fontaine PartSource. Wentz brings 34 years experience with Marmon Highway Technologies companies. Prior to joining Fontaine Trailer he was president of Webb Wheel Products Inc. - OEM Truck.

He also has 21 years in senior management roles with Fontaine Truck Equipment, Fontaine Modification, Fontaine International, Fleetline and Webb Wheel. Wentz is a member of the Heavy Duty Business Forum of HDMA, TRALA and TMC.

David Lee is director of operations for Fontaine PartSource. Lee has more than 12 years experience in aftermarket parts at Heil Environmental Industries, serving there as customer service manager along with management roles in operations and purchasing.

Cooper Construction completes Calera, Ala., commerce park job

Jim Cooper Construction Co. recently completed construction of Shelby Commerce Park, Phase IV, in Calera, Ala. The project is:

  • 575,016 sq. ft.
  • Concrete tilt-up construction
  • Ceiling height of 32 ft.
  • Cross dock loading possible
  • ESFR sprinklers
  • TPO membrane roof
  • Extra trailer parking
  • 6-acre controlled industrial park setting

The project manager was Jay Drennen. The warehouse was built for Graham and Co. out of Birmingham, Ala., and is being rented by Custom Marketing.

Jim Cooper was also awarded a 94,920-sq.-ft. FedEx Ground Home Delivery warehouse in Athens, Ga., located in Olympic Park. The project manager is Paul Vardaman and assistant project manager is Edward Whatley, and the architect is DesignForm. The job started in January and is set to finish late this month.
