Baldwin County Fair Arena breaks ground

The Baldwin County Cattle and Fair Association hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for a new 3,500-seat fair arena located just east of Highway 59 on Berner Road in Robertsdale, Ala., on April 21.

White-Spunner Construction Inc. will begin work on the 79,000-sq.-ft. arena this summer. The project, designed by BES Inc. of Fairhope, Ala., includes a sprinkler system that will keep dust levels down on the dirt-floored arena and a water system to clean arena seats. Ceiling fans over the bleacher-style seating will span 20-ft., generating plenty of ventilation in the open-air arena.

The structure will be built to withstand a 140-mph wind load per National Hurricane Building Code guidelines.

The initial contract of $2.6 million, which includes the construction of the arena and parking areas, was funded in part by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

White-Spunner Construction Inc. is a general contracting and management company based in Mobile, Ala.
