Top Contractors of 2008
Contractors rack up more than $56 billion in ‘07 revenue
The South Central region's largest contractors had about $14.6 billion in regional revenue and more than $56.7 billion in total revenue, according to data compiled by South Central Construction magazine.
In the magazine's Top 130 Contractors list, general contractors with a permanent office in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee are ranked by their 2007 regional revenue. Breakout rankings arrange contractors by state and type of construction.
The region's largest contractor Turner Industries of Baton Rouge, La. is also ranked as the largest industrial contractor in the region.
Rounding out the top five in the industrial market are Performance Contractors Inc. of Baton Rouge, BE&K Inc. of Birmingham, James Construction Group LLC of Baton Rouge and The Shaw Group Inc. of Baton Rouge.
The Yates Cos. Inc. of Philadelphia, Miss., is the area's largest builder, followed by Brasfield & Gorrie LLC of Birmingham, Nabholz Construction Corp. of Conway, Ark., Roy Anderson Holding Corp. of Gulfport, Miss., and CDI Contractors LLC of Little Rock.
In the transportation market, Boh Bros. Construction Co. LLC of New Orleans tops the list, followed by Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC of Alexandria, La., James Construction Group LLC of Baton Rouge, Diamond B Construction Co LLCof Alexandria, and Bell & Associates Construction of Brentwood, Tenn.
Leading in the manufacturing market is The Shaw Group of Baton Rouge, followed by The Yates Cos. Inc, Forcum Lannom Contractors LLC of Dyersburg, Tenn., Brice Building Co. of Birmingham and BE&K Inc. of Birmingham.
The public works market is lead by M. R. Pittman Group LLC of Harahan, La.; followed by Brasfield & Gorrie of Birmingham, B&K of Mandeville, Max Foote Construction Co. Inc. and The Shaw Group.
