Alabama

Hoar Construction of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced that Troy Malish has joined the firm as project manager to work primarily with the firm's Texas healthcare clients.

Malish has eight years in the industry and experience in all aspects of healthcare construction. His extensive knowledge of medical facility operations gives him the ability to assist clients in managing risks during the delivery of highly specialized construction projects.

Malish received a bachelor's degree in construction science from Texas A&M University. Since graduation he has helped several nationally recognized healthcare clients successfully complete their construction projects. Current projects include working with Sugar Land Rehabilitation Real Estate Partners Ltd. and with a doctor's partnership on the Southwest Bone and Joint Clinic and the Sugar Land Rehab Hospital.

Hoar Construction has other offices in Houston, Nashville and Orlando.

Rob Milton recently joined Golden & Associates Construction LLC of Birmingham, Ala., as safety director. Milton will be responsible for monitoring safety compliance on all construction activities as well as administering Golden & Associates Construction's safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.

He will also perform on-site safety inspections, coordinate tool box meetings and will compile and maintain appropriate record keeping - OSHA logs, safety records, safety meeting minutes and safety manuals. His work experience includes the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center and Harold Stewart Construction in Nashville, Tenn.

Nadine Sisson re-joined Golden & Associates as office manager. Sisson is responsible for the daily office operations and office vendor relations, including negotiating certain agreements and coordinating services. She will also supervise administrative support staff and manage benefits information.

Sisson's background includes five years experience with Golden & Associates Construction.

Gallet & Associates of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced several new hires and promotions.

Ivan Guzman as a senior project engineer. Gusman graduated from the University of Florida with a master's degree in geotechnical engineering. Additionally, Guzman will get an MBA degree from Kennesaw University by the end of the year. He has eight years of experience in geotechnical engineering business.

Mike Cabiroy as a senior technician. Cabiroy is a certified ACI level II in concrete and special inspections, as well as ACI level II in soils and asphalt. He is also certified with NICET Level II on soil, concrete and asphalting testing. Additionally, he received training and certification on NPDES Monitoring Services.

Charles Wimberly has transferred to the Vinemont office in North Alabama and has obtained the position of senior project manager for Construction Financial Services. Wimberly has been involved in performing, preparing and submitting property condition reports, plan and cost reviews, and construction loan progress reports. Wimberly received a bachelor's degree in humanities from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has more than 25 years of combined real estate, construction and banking experience.

Jon Sheng as the president of Gallet & Associates of Georgia Inc. (GAG) which is a subsidiary of GAI. Sheng attained the positions of principal at GAG and associate at GAI. Sheng received a bachelor's degree in civil-structural engineering from Tong Ji University, Shanghai, China, and a master's degree in civil-geotechnical engineering from Georgia Technology. Sheng is a registered professional engineer and has more than 18 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, consulting and structural engineering design. Sheng joined Gallet & Associates in 2000.

Leslie Noble as associate, and is currently serving a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Noble received a bachelor's degree in geology from UAB, a master's degree in geology from the University of Tennessee and is a professional geologist registered in six states. Noble has been with Gallet & Associates since 1991.

Matt Ebbert has joined as a senior project geologist. He has been performing environmental consulting for 12 years, with special emphasis in the assessment and remedial design of former manufactured gas plants and industrial facilities including: secondary metal smelting, galvanizing, dry cleaning, wood treating, tubing manufacturing and power supply. Ebbert graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in geology and is a registered professional geologist in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.

Al Wolnski as manager of the Construction Financial Services (CFS) Department in Birmingham. He is a registered professional engineer with more than 35 years of experience in the building design and construction industry.

Stacey Renfroe, the company's construction materials testing training manager in the Birmingham office, was certified as an International Building Code (IBC) Special Masonry Inspector in September.

Roxanne S. Nichols has attained the position of associate. At the firm since 1991, Nichols is the director of finance and manager of the Accounting Department. She is currently serving a two-year term on the Board of Directors and serves on the Strategic Planning Committee. Nichols received an associate's degree in business management from Jefferson State Junior College and a bachelor's degree in business management from Faulkner University.

Tad Nelson has attained the position of associate. A member of the firm since inception in 1989, Nelson is the CMT Division manager. He started his career while majoring in engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has been in the testing and consulting field for 25 years. He is certified NICET Level III, roofing industry inspector, and holds asbestos management accreditation. He is a member of professional societies of NICET, ACI, ABC, AGC and ACIA. He completed the American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama (ACEC) Leadership Development Series, Class III, in 2004.

Terrell (Terry) W. Rippstein to the level of senior associate. Rippstein is a senior geologist with more than 15 years experience in environmental consulting and has been with Gallet & Associates since February 1993. Rippstein received his bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986 and his master's degree in geology from the University of Alabama in 1995. Rippstein is a registered professional geologist in Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia. He is also a certified professional geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG), where he served on the 2004 National Advisory Board and is the current president of the Alabama Section.

Arkansas

Bill Hannah, CEO of Nabholz Construction, recently announced the appointment of Roger McDaniel as president of Nabholz Construction's Ozark Division, which includes locations in Rogers and Fort Smith, Ark.; Springfield, Mo.; and Lenexa, Kan.

"Roger's comprehensive background with Nabholz makes him immensely qualified to lead the Ozark division," Hannah said. "He is well known and respected in the industry and the community and we have great confidence he will be very successful serving our clients and their projects."

McDaniel has been with Nabholz for 26 years, is a company stockholder and previously served as senior vice president of production for the division.

Nabholz Construction Corporation was founded in 1949 by Bob Nabholz in Conway, Ark.

Region

Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd, and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, appointed Frank Gorry and Lou Tortora district managers for its Southeast and Northeast districts.

In his new role, Gorry, a senior vice president, will be responsible for day-to-day management of 10 offices in the southeastern United States, from Kentucky and Mississippi to North and South Carolina and Florida. He has been with Earth Tech for eight years, serving most recently as the district manager of the Northeast District.

Gorry has more than two decades of experience in each of the district's service areas - the environmental, facilities, transportation and water and wastewater markets.

As senior vice president for Earth Tech's Northeast District, Tortora will oversee the company's nine offices in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served as vice president of business development for Earth Tech's water practice.

He has more than 25 years of hand-on operations, marketing and sales experience in the water, wastewater and solid waste markets.
